Information on eligibility, how to apply and how we calculate financial assistance is described in our financial assistance policy.
The Hutchinson Health Charity Care Program was established to assist patients who have a financial need. Financial assistance is based on patients’ total income, compared to what is called the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
Patients whose total income and family size place them at or below 200% of the FPL will receive a 100% financial assistance discount. Patients with a total income and family size that place them at less than or equal to 400% of the FPL will receive a partial financial assistance discount.
The Charity Care Program applies to medically necessary services provided at Hutchinson Health. The patient must fully exhaust any available government assistance programs and any available health insurance benefit to be eligible. Charity Care Program eligibility is based on annual income, insurance, family size and liquid assets.
To qualify for this program, a patient must complete a brief application. Eligible patients will be covered by the program for up to six months, barring any significant change. English and Spanish versions are provided below.
Hutchinson Health may approve financial assistance in special circumstances. If you’d like to learn more, please call
Knowing how much your medical care will cost before you visit a doctor can help you plan for upcoming health care needs. We offer several different ways to estimate the cost of care at Hutchinson Health.
You can use our HealthPartners online patient estimate tool to get a cost estimate and learn about how much you’ll likely pay out-of-pocket.
The federal government requires hospitals to post their standard charges reflecting each inpatient and outpatient service and item provided by the hospital.
Our standard charges may be far different than the amounts you are expected to pay. Hutchinson Health has negotiated varying discounts with Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans. We can help you figure out how much you’ll have to pay if you call one of our patient financial advocates at 320-484-4493. They can help you work with your insurance company to understand your actual out-of-pocket costs.
The Minnesota Hospital Association has information about our charges, as well as what other hospitals charge, to help consumers navigate the price of their medical care.
You can also see our list of clinic cost estimates. They reflect data from HealthPartners, Blue Cross Blue Shield, PreferredOne and Medica. If you have another insurance company, your cost may be different.
Our hospital-based clinics may charge a separate facility fee depending on your health insurance. This can result in a higher out-of-pocket expense. Contact a patient financial advocate at 320-484-4493 to learn more. Our hospital-based clinics include:
You can also gather information to estimate your costs by contacting your insurance provider. Just call the number on the back of your insurance card.
